When entering the house, you may hear some reavers laughing about a letter which Bjornolfr wrote to Hrodulf before his death. This letter reveals that Bjornolfr was concerned for his lover, that he wished Hrodulf would return to Solitude ... We know the thing in Hrodulf's basement is Dwemer (we do literally see it) but Hackdirt is almost certainly not Dwemer, being in Cyrodiil. We know the -area- he eventuallly digs into is dwemer. We dont know whether or not that's connected to what he was hearing at all.
